419 new COVID cases in Patna today

Patna, 17th July, 2020. Patna reported the highest number of COVID cases today, with 1385 new cases in Bihar. The total number of new cases in India is around 35000, with the total number of infections in India crossing the 10 lakh mark. The more congested areas in the city such as Patna City, Rajiv Nagar and Kankerbagh have seen a big spike in reported cases. Govind Mitra Road and Bakerganj in Central Patna are COVID hotspots. Vijay Kumar Sinha, Lakhisaria MLA and minister in the Nitish govt., has been hospitalised after a COVID positive report. Six doctors from the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), two doctors from IGIMS Patna and a nurse, a technician and a staff at Gardiner Road Hospital have also tested positive. Gaya reported 42 new cases today, including a BDO and a DSP posted in the city. Twelve COVID positive patients lost their lives in the state yesterday. The total number of lives lost due to COVID in Bihar is now 192.
